As the nation continues to be in crisis for healthcare providers, AMOpportunities leads global hiring initiatives.

CHICAGO

January 28, 2022

AMOpportunities successfully hosted more than 1,000 global medical students and graduates for U.S. clinical rotations in 2021. These trainees hailed from 93 countries, including India, Mexico, Canada, Colombia, Ireland, Puerto Rico, Poland, and Pakistan.

The pandemic has put a tremendous strain on the healthcare workforce, foretelling what the U.S. will look like in the coming years when the physician shortage hits a predicted 37,800 to 124,000 physicians by 2034.

Bringing global medical professionals to the U.S. is critical to the survival of the American healthcare system.

The Biden administration announced last week a variety of initiatives and changes to help foster and attract global talent in the STEM industry to the United States. These initiatives include:

  • Early Career STEM Research Initiatives that help non-immigrant BridgeUSA exchange visitors come to the U.S. to engage in STEM research
  • More than 20 new fields in the STEM Optional Practical Training program through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program
  • New updates to the O-1A nonimmigrant status

AMOpportunities stands with the Biden Administration in their progress towards attracting more global talent and working to make legal immigration easier.

“When I read ‘one of America’s greatest strengths is our ability to attract global talent’ from the Biden-Harris Administration, I reflected on how hard our team at AMOpportunities works to create opportunities for global medical trainees to enter the U.S. physician workforce,” said Kyle Swinsky, CEO, AMOpportunities. “We’re excited to have an administration that aligns with our mission of bringing incredible global talent to the U.S.”

In 2022, AMOpportunities expects to double the number of medical trainees for its clinical experiences and further develop partnerships with global medical schools and U.S. hospitals to provide international medical students and graduates with the opportunities and rotations they need to become U.S. physicians.
